Difference Between a Regular Closure (4×4) and Lace Frontal Closure (13×4)

The major difference between a regular closure ( 4 x 4) and frontal closure (13 x 4) is the length.

Regular 4×4 Closure

This is not always exactly 4×4 inches. The dimensions can differ slightly, depending on the brand and manufacturer. What is common, however, is the ratio of width to length. It is typically close to 1:1, which is square.

4×4 closures are better for defined parts and styles. It’s easy to achieve a flat, natural-looking style with just a needle and thread, no glue is needed.

4×4 closures come in lace and silk/skin-like base.

Lace Frontal 13×4 Closure

Similar to the regular 4×4 closure, frontal closures are not always exactly 13×4 inches. The dimensions may differ slightly, but It’s usually long enough to extend from ear to ear.

13 x 4 closures are best with flexible styles. If the client wants more flexibility with the parts and is able to self-style the hair, 13×4 closures will be appropriate.

Installing the 13×4 closure does not require glue as well. This can be achieved with a needle and thread. See video tutorial below
