  • What Braiding Hair Color?

My client wanted a mix of two different natural colors. She asked for brown at the bottom and black at the top. I used color 4, which is a light brown at the back like she requested, and used color 1B, which is off-black, at the front.

  • What type of braiding hair?

I used two packs of Xpressions braiding hair.

  • What type of finishing?

The hair was feathered and pulled to achieve the tapered look. It was dipped in hot water to tame it.

  • What type of aftercare?

I encouraged my client to keep her hair tied up at night. Not only does it preserve the looks, it prevents the accidental pulling that can occur when a braid gets stuck under an arm, pillow, etc.

I gave her a 2oz bottle of Shaft ‘N’ Scalp Mint oil for her scalp. This will keep her scalp moisturized and healthy, as well as encourage hair growth because of mints ability to increase blood flow to the scalp.

  • What about touch-up?

I told the client to schedule a perimeter touch up when her hair grows out and the braid starts to hang on the new growth. This is necessary to prevent the edges from falling out.

My client was pleased with the finished product.
